You can take tums or rolaids, it’s not going to hurt your baby at all.

TUMS

I lived off of tums with calcium while i was pregnant with all of my children. I would also suggest some nice cold milk to calm the acid if you do not have any tums. I do not recommend the prilosec unless your doctor says it is ok.

the only ones I know of are Tums and Ranitidine
I have heartburn too! Doesn’t it just sting sometimes?!

I would suggest tums. . that always worked for me, but if it is just not cutting it you can mix a little bit of baking soda with water and drink it, but not to much and not all the time. . . Soda water will help and if you can handle it so will milk. . .

In the first 3 months – nothing but milk. After that you can try tum tums or gaviscon. If it is really driving you nuts, talk to your doctor they have anti-heartburn tablets that are safe for pregnant women to take.
Good luck and god I feel your pain!!

Tums. . . lots of tums and milk.
Mine was so bad I had the doctor give me a prescription. That worked wonders! But mine was EVERY SINGLE DAY. . . . Horrible. Talk to your doctor.

Don’t take the Prilosec without checking with your doctor. I also suggest Tums. Not only do they stop the heartburn, they are basically just calcium and flavorings. You need calcium anyway, so there is no danger in taking them. Just don’t go overboard. If you can’t get your hands on Tums right away, milk also helps, but it doesn’t seem to last as long.
Also, to help with the heartburn during the night, I make a T out of two pillows and rest my shoulder on the bottom pillow. It cuts down the number of times I have to get up at night and take Tums.

Firstly, I would watch what kind of food I was eating (I had horrible horrible heartburn when I was pregnant). I took Tums for it. I heard milk helps because it coats the stomach at throat (can’t test that because I am allergic to milk). Check the label for the Prilosec OTC, it will tell you if you can take it or not. Hope this helped.

Tums. They are also great for getting a little extra calcium. I had to take them when I was pregnant with my twins!

Hi just did bit of research and no Prilosec OTC is not safe during pregnancy. Although no research has been done in human it is not consider safe. If it is nigh time were you are at drink a glass of milk. If you can go to a pharmacy then Tums are perfectly safe while pregnant. Are you having really bad heartburn frequently? If so recent studies and Old Wife’s Tale say to be prepare for a baby with a full set of hair. Also there is a link below to safefetus, this is a website were they tell you if any medication will harm baby. Before taking anything I always at safefetus. Of course I always ask my doctor but sometimes he can’t be reach at 3am.

I tried Milk, milk shakes, accifects (however you spell that) and NOTHING worked, but then I tried Zantac and that is the onlything that helped and my doc said it was completely fine.

I had the same problem. Very painful heartburn and i even vomited some blood at some point then my doc prescribed zantac tablets and they worked like a charm. I was 10 weeks then and within a few days the heartburn was completely gone and hasn’t recurred, am now 21 weeks. Also avoid spicy foods, fats, condiments, pickles and milk. Yes milk coz once its in your stomach it turns into lactic acid and burns you like crazy. I didn’t believe my doc at first then i tried it and it helped a lot so dont take milk or yoghurt til your heartburn is gone completely then you can start again. Am drinking it now coz my doc told me its ok since my heartburn is gone. And drink as much water as you can. I hope you well soon dear, all the best and happy pregnancy
