I’m so sorry to hear you have such horrible acid reflux! Here’s an article I found that may be able to help you prevent it in the future:http://www. ehow. com/how_5404459_avoid-ac…

It’s one of the “P” drugs (either prilosec or prevacid). I know you can get prilosec over the counter, but I think prevacid is prescription only. Before you take ANYTHING, you need to check with the pharmacist and your doctor. Tums and Rolaids work well, but if it’s true acid reflux, your stomach is producing too much acid (either that or the sphincter muscle won’t close, so the acid is backing up in your throat). If that’s the case, Tums and Rolaids won’t really help, and you’ll probably max out on the daily dose of them and still be in pain.
Ask the pharmacist if it’s safe for you during pregnancy, and then call your doctor and ask him/her. If the pharmacist says it’s safe for pregnant women then it definitely is, but you could have some type of underlying medical condition or something that only your doctor knows about.

Don’t take any drugs just simply make your body more of an alkaline environment rather than an acidic one by food combining. Eat fewer processed foods and don’t eat protein and carbs in the same meal. Don’t eat fruit straight after a meal – wait at least 3 hours first or eat it 1/2 hour BEFORE a meal. You don’t have to eat less, just differently.

Look at the back of any antacid package. It should say whether or not it is safe to take during pregnancy. If not, just ask a pharmacist. They aren’t going to charge you any money for free information!

You can take tums or have the doctor prescribe you Zantac, or buy it over the counter if you have the money for it, it’s the same a prescription.
