My one month is giving him Zantac for his acid reflux. Just wondering how well / fast that worked for your child My doctor said it could take up to two weeks to really have an effect, that sucks. Did you use anything else with it that worked so well

My son was diagnosed with reflux about 6 weeks, and was given Zantac. We waited two weeks to take effect, but is only effective in reducing symptoms in approximately 50-75%, so that during his visit of two months and brought him Zantac and put him on Prevacid, which worked very well (and tasted a lot better for it!). Approximately 6 1 / 2 months, took the Prevacid to see how I was doing and he was fine. Today is 8 months and completely free of symptoms.

I’m sorry to hear that your ds has to go through this. My ds was diagnosed at 7 weeks after weeks of me trying to find a dr. I knew nothing. They put me on Prevacid 7. 5 mg daily and up to 4 weeks after 15 mg. per day. I did not think Dr. prescribed Zantac for children. Most of Dr. prescribed Prevacid. It took two weeks to help relieve their pain and four weeks to fully heal your gut wrenching cry baby but it is completely different now and has been for eight months. Infant reflux is a difficult thing to go ahead with your child, especially when others do not understand. I found very useful in www. infantreflux. org – a wonderful show, full of information for mothers who experience the same thing with his son. Good luck.

My son was put on Axid about three weeks. We tried everything before this and nothing helped. . . cried miserably and arched his back every time I ate, and every time I climbed into tears. It took about 2-3 days to start working, and the difference was night and day. He is now four months and we have not had to increase the dose, I know the doctor said that after this bottle runs out, let go and see if he has Overcome.
