Is there anything that works for heartburn later in pregnancy?
I am 35 weeks with twins and I have terrible heartburn ALL THE TIME. I know this is just a part of pregnancy I have to deal with, but is there anything that helps I am only getting about three hours of sleep every night because of this. My doctor gave me a prescription for pepcid. It worked for a while, but i think my body is use to it now or something because it does not work at all anymore. Any help would be appreciated!

i take ranitidine. Its the generic Zantac. Its the only thing that helps my acid reflux and GERD. You can get it at any store and dont need an Rx

You may ask your doc to switch your perscription. My doc put me on Prilosec 2x per day and that DID help. Once the baby dropped, I backed it off to 1x and am now off of it at 38 weeks. You can also use Tums along with it. And you can always try saltines and eating smaller, more frequent meals. And stay away from spicy foods! Good luck!

I found that sleeping with my upper body slightly elevated helped me to get more sleep but other than that there really wasn’t anything that I could do. try keeping a bottle of tums around. If you stopped using it when you went on the pepcid it might work again now that you haven’t used it for a while. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

Two home remedies I have heard for heartburn are drink water which dilutes the acid or eat plain bread which soaks up the acid. I have also heard that eating smaller, more frequent meals keeps the stomach from getting too full and therefore cuts down on heartburn. I hope you feel better and best of luck with your twins.

I never used them but I was told Preggo Pops are great help for heartburn. Try sitting, laying, reclining in different positions too. Another thing that may help is to eat smaller amounts more often. Good luck and just think, it won’t be long now!

My midwife was pretty against using Tums or rolaids but suggested papaya enzyme. You can find them in any health food store or a Whole Foods. My husband was a non believer until he tried them. They are great tasting and worked so well that we still use them even after my son was born.

A natural remedy I use is apple cider vinager. Take 1 table spoon by mouth if you can or you can get pills at the health food store. However you can not take stuff like tums or rolaids after taking the vinager. Check with a doc if you are on a prescrition to make sure there is no risk of a reaction. You can also pickle some cucumbers in sugar and applecider vinager and eat them through out the day for taste.

I am 37 weeks and I have the same problem. . I sleep propped up and keep tums right beside me. Milk or water helps me also.
