Yes – acid reflux is nasty stuff. First off, drink more water – at least 64 oz or water a day. Cut down on the carbohydrates – breads and potatoes and that sort of stuff. The stomach doesn’t always know how to digest this stuff. Acid reflux seems to do better on a diet of protein and fats – meat, eggs, nuts – and green leafy vegetables.
Most important is to lift the head of your bed 6″ off the floor – so you sleep going uphill. It’s a little weird at first, but you get used to it. Depending upon what sort of bed you have, get something to go under the head end. Maybe you could get somebody to help you make a box your bed could sit on.
Having your bed up 6″ at the head doesn’t allow stomach contents to come up into the esophagus as well – so really helps. There’s also other supplements and stuff you can take for this – magnesium is a good one – it sooths the stomach (Milk of Magnesia).
If you want to read about minerals and supplements in general, get a USED copy of Dr. Atkins – “Vita-Nutrient Solution” – off of Amazon Books. That is all the vitamins and minerals and amino acids and fats and his experience with them in his practice. He was a heart doctor in NYC for many years. It can be a real help in treating yourself for many problems.

Sleep with the head of your bed elevated. Put the legs of the bed that are under the head of the bed on blocks. Use a lot of pillows. Do not eat within three hours of going to sleep. Go very easy on spicy food. Take 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in half glass of warm water to relieve gas and thus pressure. Don’t drink carbonated soda, it makes you gassy and that creates upward pressure on the valve that is supposed to keep food in your stomach and then it forces its way up. If you must drink soda, do it only in the daytime and not in the evening.

The BEST way to treat any condition is to diagnose and treat the CAUSE. Common causes of acid reflux include but are not limited to the following:
1) Celiac Disease
2) Other food allergies/intolerance
3) Hypochlorhydria (too little stomach acid!)
4) Hiatal Hernia
5) Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth
6) Gallbladder disorders
7) Chronic alcohol intake
Intestinal Dysbiosis
Best wishes and good luck.

Try this: One tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar.
It’s disgusting and burns a wee bit going down but it gets rid of that heartburn FAST. If you find it’s too potent for you, you can dilute it in some water. It works better than any pill, I’ll tell you what

Many herbal and homeopathic remedies have been formulated with specific ingredients to assist the body in maintaining harmony in the esophagus and stomach. Melissa officinalis is well known for its soothing and calming properties as well as being widely prescribed by herbalists for the relief of all complaints related to anxiety and stress.
This herbal ingredient is excellent at relaxing cramps, improving digestion problems and treating gastric complaints. A homeopathic remedy such as Mag. Phos (a biochemic tissue salt) helps to quickly ease digestive discomfort including cramps, excessive flatulence and hiccups. It also helps to improve general functioning of the intestines, preventing constipation and diarrhea.

Put one spoonful of baking soda in 8oz of water, stir and drink.
Don’t take apple cider vinegar. Despite all the people who think it’s a magical health elixir, it isn’t. In fact in the case of acid reflux, since ACV is a strong acid, it will make the problem worse, not better.

Hi, my GI doctor diagnosed me with gastritis after an endoscopy. I had been complaining of stomach pain for many months. Acid cider vinegar (ACV) cured my condition. ACV is also known for relieving or curing acid reflux. The following link is my favorite ACV link: http://www. earthclinic. com/Remedies/acvinegar. html Also look at http://www. earthclinic. com/CURES/acid_reflux_and_apple_cider_vinegar. html
If you want a huge google link, check out http://www. google. com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS336US336&q=apple+cider+vinegar+health+benefits
I can’t offer any guarantees, but I think ACV is worth a try. At the time of my gastritis, I was taking one teaspoon of ACV plus one tablespoon of honey in 8 ounces of water. I did this twice a day. You might to try more ACV for acid reflux. Other people have different routines and amounts of ingesting ACV.
Now I take ACV on a daily basis. I was on a medication that made me gain about 20 pounds. With the ACV, I lost about 20 to 25 pounds (with no other changes to my diet). I now take about 2 teaspoons in a few ounces of water and don’t even bother with the honey anymore.
Using a certain method, I even used ACV externally to remove a wart on my leg. There is info on that on earthclinic. com.
It is important to use raw, unfiltered ACV from a health food store. The best brands are Braggs, WholeFoods, Spectrum and Trader Joe’s. Avoid grocery store ACV or capsules of ACV in drug stores that are sometimes touted as weight loss cures.
There are probably other methods to alleviate or cure acid reflux, but I suggest you try to overcome the taste of ACV and give it a try. I wish you the best.
