Well written and very easy to follow. Just as the name suggests, this book is like a basic educational course on infant acid reflux.

Jan Gambino, who is a reflux-mom and educator herself has taken the readers step by step through home treatments/therapies for reflux babies to basic science behind reflux and how to prepare yourself before going to a pediatrician and/or a specialist. Even if you don’t have a whole lot of background in reflux-science, you will feel better equipped to deal with your child’s reflux when you reead this book.

If you are looking for medical details such as dosage of reflux medicines, the book does not contain such specific solutions for acid reflux but it certainly tells you how and where to look for solutions especially when your child has severe reflux and/or feeding complications rising from it.

The best thing about the book is that it describes the emotional aspects of parenting a reflux baby very well. All of us who are parenting a reflux child or who have done it, will identify with at least one of the small story-columns in the book. You will feel much better when you know that you are not alone in all this.

Ms. Gambino has brought together her experience, education, compassion along with her hard work in order to create a must have book for mommies needing guidance about refluxing children. Her understanding of children with GER and GERD is what makes her book so important to read. All mommies and daddies could benefit in applying Ms Gambino’s insight and knowledge!

This book is extremely well written with a lot of information yet in an easy to read format. When I first read that medical advice was not given, I was concerned that it would not have very much detail. Much to my surprise, there is a lot of detail and explanation. You will read about symptoms, diagnosis, medications, medical tests, etc. In between all of the specifics are side bar stories, anecdotes and real life info from parents who have lived through children with reflux.

My own three kids had reflux. With my first I felt so lost and had to figure out her reflux on my own. By number 2 & 3 I felt more knowledgeable but yet they were different than my first. I could’ve used this book with all three and learned something new from it with each child.

I’ve never read a more comprehensive, useful yet easy to read book on reflux in children. I could not recommend this book more highly.

Having been a parent of a preemie with reflux and a professional in the preemie community, I know all too well how this highly misunderstood issue can not only stress the baby but also stress out the entire family. This no-nonsense guide is the bible for helping parents (preemie and non-preemie) through diagnosis, treatment options and early life strategies from infancy through childhood. There are tips and real-life quotes from Moms who have “been there” sprinkled throughout the book, much like having friends right by your side. And this book is informative without being text-book which is unique and refreshing. Definitely a must-have for parents, a thoughtful gift for family and friends who don’t “get it.”

Looking after a reflux baby can be a very lonely, demoralising experience. Through a mixture of Jan’s own experience and the stories she has so respectfully relayed from other mothers, this book helps you understand that although each family’s situation is unique there are common difficulties that we all go through and you are not alone. It also gives real insight to all those family and friends that say ” oh s/he will just outgrow it and s/he looks so well ” to actually understand what the real magnitude of the difficulties you are going through every day. In fact it does it so well that we have bought a few copies that we give to our friends when they ask ‘how are you doing’ so they can understand why we are more concerned about counting cornflakes than working out when we can next host a dinner party.
