The best thing to do is change your diet – can not help all the way, but it will help much. If you eat foods that are alkaline rather than acid that helps a lot.
Avoid fatty foods, sodas, coffee, ketchup and completely.
If you drink water with lemon (real lemon – not alternatives) that will help balance the pH in the stomach. Besides tons of fruits and vegis (fresh) and Vegi fruits and juices (from a juicer) will make a huge difference to your stomach.
Basically, you just have to get down acid production.
Search "pH balance diet" – which has lists of acidic and alkaline foods – some will surprise you. If you eat 80% alkaline and 20% or less acid, you will feel tons better. It is hard to do and important dietary change, but you can if you try.
PS, in response to other answers: ginger helps many people with stomach problems. The over-the-counter Nexium will not help if it is not doing the job – they do nothing for me at all.

daughter has this and is as follows. She eats at least 2-3 hours before bedtime. The bed also is a bit high, about 2-3 inches with pillows, but no bed. She does not eat anything spicy or acidic at night, only bland foods. She eats what she wants otherwise, not only for a couple of hours before bedtime. With a stomach ailment the drug can only do so much, the rest is up to you to change your diet and habits.

My nephew's doctor told him to go to Family Dollar and get some of their acid reducers and $ 3 helps. Sorry, but I do not know the exact name. I know you have two or three different. You could perhaps ask your doctor about these.

Prilosac OTC worked for me. You can get without a prescription at the local pharmacy. Good luck!
